Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between oral health and quality of life in mothers with removable dental prostheses who attend self-managed community initiatives in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho during the year 2022. The research methodology used was a basic quantitative non-experimental correlational approach. The population studied were mothers with removable dental prostheses who attend a self-managed community initiative center.
The results indicate a direct relationship between oral health and quality of life, with a correlation coefficient different from zero at 95% confidence level (p<0.000). However, it was observed that only one unit of improvement in oral health improves quality of life by 10%. In addition, an indirect relationship between oral health and quality of life was found, with correlation coefficients different from zero at 95% confidence level (p<0.000). In this case, it was observed that one unit of improvement in oral health improved quality of life by 73% and 82%, respectively.
In summary, this study demonstrates the importance of oral health on the quality of life of mothers with removable dental prostheses who attend self-managed community initiatives. It is suggested that oral health education be promoted, and healthy habits be encouraged to improve the quality of life of this population.
